Official Contest Terms and Conditions

1. Eligibility

• The Northern Birch Hedgehog Naming Contest (the “Contest”) is open to active youth members of Northern Birch Credit Union who are 16 years of age or under at the time of entry.
• Participants must hold or be an authorized user on an active Northern Birch Credit Union account. Trust accounts are eligible.
• Parent or legal guardian permission is required to enter and to accept any prize.

2. Contest Period

• The Contest begins on August 15, 2026 at 9:00 AM EST and ends on October 1, 2026 at 11:59 PM EST (the “Contest Period”).
• Submissions received after the Contest Period will not be eligible.

3. How to Enter

No purchase is necessary to enter or win. Eligible participants may enter in one of two ways:

• In-Branch: Fill out an official contest ballot paper at any Northern Birch Credit Union branch location and drop it into the designated ballot box.
• Online: Complete the official online entry form (Microsoft Forms) available via the Northern Birch website or social media channels.

Required Entry Information:

To be valid, each ballot or digital form must include:

• Member’s Name
• Member’s Age
• Primary Branch Location
• Suggested Hedgehog Name
• (Optional) A short explanation of why the name was chosen.

Note: Drawings or coloured sheets submitted in branch are welcome for display purposes but are optional and do not affect the chances of winning.

Limit of one (1) entry per active youth member.

4. Selection of Winners & Prizes

There are ten (10) total prizes available to be won:

• Grand Prize (1 Winner):
• The selection of the winning mascot name will be judged by Northern Birch Credit Union staff based on creativity and fit for the brand.
• The winner whose submitted name is chosen for the official mascot will receive one (1) plush hedgehog and a $100 deposit into their Northern Birch chequing account.
• If multiple participants submit the same winning name, a random draw among those entries will determine the Grand Prize winner.
• Runner-Up Prizes (9 Winners):
• Nine (9) remaining plush hedgehogs will be awarded via a random draw from all remaining eligible entries submitted both in-branch and online.

5. Winner Notification & Announcement

• Winners will be contacted by Northern Birch Credit Union staff via the contact information associated with their member account.
• The winning name and official new mascot will be announced via Northern Birch’s website, social media, and in-branch displays.
• If a selected winner cannot be reached within 14 days of initial contact, an alternate winner may be selected.

6. General Conditions

• By participating, entries grant Northern Birch Credit Union the right to use the submitted mascot name for promotional, educational, and marketing materials (including future financial literacy campaigns, back-to-school events, and community presentations) without further compensation.
• Cash prizes ($100 deposit) will be deposited directly into the winner's verified active Northern Birch account and cannot be transferred.
• Personal information collected during this contest will be used solely for the administration of the contest and account verification, in accordance with Northern Birch Credit Union’s privacy policy.
• Northern Birch Credit Union reserves the right to reject any names submitted and decide on an alternative name for the mascot.

The youth bonus is available for new members under the age of 16 who open and are approved for a Northern Birch Credit Union membership and account. To qualify, the account must be opened in-branch with a parent or legal guardian and remain in good standing.

Offer Details:

• A $30 cash bonus will be automatically deposited into the new youth member’s Northern Birch account after 3 months of meeting the offer and membership requirements.
• Northern Birch will also waive the $20 member share purchase, for a total combined value of $50.
• The membership must be opened with a chequing or savings account product.
• Limit of one Youth Account Bonus per child.

Eligibility:

• Available to new members under the age of 16 only.
• The child must not have an existing or previously closed Northern Birch membership.
• Parent or guardian must be a current Northern Birch member or open a membership at the same time.

Additional Notes:

• This offer cannot be combined with other promotional offers including the Member Referral Bonus or Student Account Bonus.
• Northern Birch reserves the right to withdraw or change this offer at any time without notice.
• Offer available for personal (joint) and trust membership, subject to approval.
• Offer available for a limited time and subject to availability.
